Practice policy on ‘Fit to Fly’ and fitness certificates for other activities such as sky diving.
Fitness to Fly certificates and fitness for activities (such as sky diving) are not part of GMS contractual work and GPs are not under any obligation to provide them.
These assessments may require specialist training or knowledge, which we do not have. However, there are private clinics that can fulfil these assessments and provide certificates.
We will always be happy to provide factual information about past medical history and current medications.
Expectant mothers needing a fit to fly letter can request these from their midwife team who will be better placed to know about the history of their pregnancy.
