If you need help when we are closed
Out of hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery reopens.
If you need to access medical care out of hours, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
If you need treatment out of hours, NHS 111 will contact the local out of hours provider WestCall directly on your behalf.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
Reading Urgent Care Centre
Reading Urgent Care Centre has relocated from the town centre to Royal Berkshire Hospital. They see patients referred from GP practices, from NHS 111 and from the Royal Berkshire Hospital Emergency Department (A&E). They can also see ‘walk-in’ patients. You do not have to be registered to see a clinician at the Reading Urgent Care Centre. They are open from 10am-10pm, 7 days a week, Monday-Sunday – and on public holidays like Christmas and Easter.
Accessibility
We have a designated disabled car parking space for our patients holding a valid blue badge.
There is a disabled access to the surgery via a ramp and we have automatic doors to the internal door. We also have disabled toilet facilities on the ground floor.
A wheelchair is available for those who require it for their visit. We would ask that you let us know if you need help as your disability may not be a visible one.
All our clinics are held on the ground floor but due to fire safety those patients in a wheelchair will not be able to be seen in rooms 4 and 5. If you make reception aware, we will make arrangements for you to be seen in a different room.
We welcome assistance dogs (but please no non-assistance doggies).
We would also welcome any suggestions you may have in making your visit to the surgery easier.
