We are proud to be an Armed Forces veteran friendly accredited GP practice. This means we have a dedicated clinician who has specialist knowledge of military related health conditions and veteran specific health services. You can make us aware that you have served in the UK armed forces (either as a regular or reservist) so we can make a note in your medical record (with your permission). You only need to have served for one day to be classed as a veteran or ex-forces.
When registering with us there is an option to select that you are a veteran, but you can also let us know at a later date if you did not do this at the time. As a veteran you will get priority treatment for any medical condition which has been caused by your service (subject to the clinical needs of other patients). Where appropriate and with consent we can refer you to dedicated veterans’ health services. Please note if you do need to be seen elsewhere info/background will be provided so you wouldn’t need to repeat your personal story if you have already shared it with us.
We can provide advice and support to loved ones who may be affected by your health conditions. Op COURAGE is an NHS mental health specialist service designed to help serving personnel due to leave the military, reservists, armed forces veterans and their families and can be accessed via www.nhs.uk/opcourage
