New Wokingham Road Surgery

(Dr Chau & Partners)

Welcome to New Wokingham Road Surgery. We are committed to giving our patients high standards of care in a friendly and supportive environment. We aim to achieve this by working together with our patients.

As our main aim is to provide expert and friendly personal health care for you and your family we would be very interested in hearing your suggestions and ideas of how our system could be improved.

A suggestion box is available for all your comments in the reception area.

New Privacy Notice

With the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations which come into force from 25 May 2018 the Practice has also reviewed its privacy notice, a copy of which is shown here.

We appreciate that this is quite detailed, however we are required to explain to you how we hold and share information about you.  At the heart of everything we do is patient care which includes protecting the information you give us.  A short statement about how we use your information is also available here.

We are committed to protecting your privacy.  You can access our website without giving us any information about yourself. But sometimes we do need information to provide services that you request, and this statement of privacy explains data collection and use in those situations. To read our Privacy Statement in full, please click here.

Named GP

All patients have a named GP.  Your named doctor is the GP who will take responsibility for overseeing the management of your health needs and medicines, and who will work with other health and social care providers who are involved in your care.  It is not essential that you always see your named doctor but we wish to encourage continuity of care by suggesting you see a regular GP. All doctors at our practice are able to access your health record. To contact your named GP or any GP within the practice, please ring 01344 773418.

Accessible Information Standard

All organisations that provide NHS services, or publicly funded adult social care must have fully implemented and conformed to the Accessible Information Standard (1605) by 31st July 2016.  This means we would like to record your preferred method of contact so that you can receive your health information in a format you can understand.

For most of us our preferred method of contact is your home number or mobile number but, for example, if you suffer from hard of hearing or blindness that may not be suitable for you.  If you or someone you are caring for wishes us to contact you in another way, please do let us know by informing either Reception or the Practice Manager at our surgery.  We will then record your needs by highlighting it on your medical records. Click here for further information.

                           FAQ

Disabled Access

We have a designated disabled car parking space for our patients holding a valid Blue Badge.

There is a disabled access to the surgery via a ramp and we have automatic doors to both the external and internal doors.  We also have disabled toilet facilities on the ground floor.

A wheelchair is available for those who require it for their visit.  We would ask that you let us know if you need help as your disability may not be a visible one.  All our clinics are held on the ground floor but due to fire safety those patients in a wheelchair will not be able to be seen in rooms 4 & 5.  If you make reception aware, we will make arrangements for you to be seen in a different room.

We welcome Assistance Dogs (but please no non-Assistance doggies!)

We would also welcome any suggestions you may have in making your visit to the surgery easier.

Have you heard about the NHS Friends and Family Test? Click here for more information or click here to complete the questionnaire.

Health and Social Care

More than 30 members of the public joined CCG and local authority colleagues in June to discuss the future of primary care services in our area. The meeting included this new film looking at the challenges GP practices face and how we’re responding.

Monday Morning Appointments

We recommend that Monday appointments are used for Urgent book on the day illnesses instead of routine check ups or colds. Mondays are our busiest day of the week and we are trying to find the best way to utilise appointments. If you know you need a medication review or want to see a doctor for ongoing problems please try to book these in the week so we can use Monday appointments for those who really need to be seen after the weekend.
We understand that things happen over the weekend, and you call for an appointment first thing on Monday morning, but if it is not urgent please try to book an appointment in advance.
